Today, nearly 50% of children suffer from a chronic illness or disability.
Over the past 30 years, the number of adults and children who have been diagnosed with a chronic disease or condition – from asthma to autism to Alzheimer’s — has sky-rocketed. While the pharmaceutical industry has sought to find drug treatments to alleviate the symptoms of these illnesses, very little research has been conducted to identify the causes of this epidemic. Why? Because there is likely to be one or more industrial culprits behind it and the liability and cost to alter their practices could prove financially crippling to these industries.
We believe the health and happiness of hundreds of millions of suffering individuals and families — indeed, the very future of civilization if the rate of disease continues at its current growth trajectory — compels us to continue seeking answers to this crisis. No stone should be left unturned and there should be no sacred cows, regardless of whether they also contribute positively to the world.
For instance, CMSRI has funded research by world-renowned experts in science and medicine, several of whom have identified aluminum as a potential cause of several chronic illnesses. Aluminum as a material for aircraft fuselage is very beneficial to society; aluminum as a known toxin to all life forms, injected in untested amounts into babies, may not be.
The chart below lists a number of human diseases that have been linked to aluminum. The ranking is the probability that in the future, aluminum will be proven to play some role in the aetiology of the disease. Thus, a ranking of 10 for dialysis encephalopathy shows that aluminum has already been shown to be involved in this disease.
