An international scientific committee will accept, review and approve independent research proposals which will evaluate critical but previously unexamined areas of vaccine safety including assessing safety of ingredients, preparations, combinations and schedules. This research will provide new information about the biological and genetic mechanisms of vaccines.
Grantees will be qualified research scientists, physicians, experts in social science and health policy, consumer child health advocates and experts in health regulation who have submitted proposals to conduct independent safety research.
This research will be expected to be peer reviewed and submitted for publication in major scientific journals and communicated to the media and general public to provide information to assist policy makers, physicians, and parents in making educated vaccine choices.
The institute will operate with an administrative staff, scientific advisory board, a director and a volunteer foundation board. The governing board of scientists, physicians, experts in vaccine regulation, social science and health policy, and consumer child health advocates will provide overall accreditation and review of the institute’s operations.
